The world is more aware of linguistic gender differences at work. But can gender-neutral language really benefit your business?

This is the question posed by Hannah Moffatt, Creative Director at language consultancy, The Writer. She says that there are business advantages to being gender neutral with language and explains why and how businesses can best execute a neutral tone in the points below.

What is ‘gender-neutral’ language?

She explains: “There are various tools out there, like Textio, which measure unconscious gender bias in writing. Certainly in Textio’s case, it’s based on research: it tracks how many men or women apply for various jobs based on the wording of recruitment ads.
