It’s a sad case of affairs when you lose your best employee to new pastures – and, more often than not, it can seem as if the decision to leave has arisen from nowhere.

However, Lynn Taylor, a national workplace expert and author, begs to disagree. In a recent interview with Business Insider, Taylor explained how there are always signs that you’re about to lose a valuable employee – and explains how to spot them.

“As the boss, it's important to watch for the symptoms of an impending departure so you can address the issues before it's too late,” she commented.

“Losing even one valued employee can disrupt your business, not to mention losing several team members. And if you're running a small company or start-up, these losses can destroy your business.”
