Adam Nicoll, Head of Marketing for the FiveTen Group, told The Capitalist that between March and September there is much upheaval for City workers: “We see a very marked seasonality to our hiring activity. The reason for this is that people appear to make key life decisions, very often off the back of the few occasions in the year when they get genuine lengthy episodes of time to introvert and reflect; most notably those occasions are Christmas and the big summer holiday.”
Nicoll expanded and said that recruitment rises by an average of 40% between these months. He was discussing new findings from CV-Library, namely that 52.7% of workers are more likely to look for a new job after returning from holiday, and that 34.1% feel their employer puts too much pressure on them immediately after returning to work.
Research carried out by reed.co.uk as part of their Career Contentment Index (CCI) earlier this year suggested that most people are happiest with their employment at age 32, and after they have moved jobs thrice.
