Speaking to HR Grapevine, James Griffiths, Group Chief HR Officer at Sepura, chats about the benefits of outplacement.
“Whether the investment focuses on CV generation, the acquiring of new skills, or retirement planning, the additional support must be worthwhile for everyone… and, in fact, the benefits to the business are not inconsiderable:
- “an enhanced reputation among remaining employees, resulting in productivity being maintained
- “a pervading sense of fairness among employees at all levels a reduction in termination costs and payments
- “the avoidance of claims by displaced employees
- “enhanced social responsibility
- “protection of the internal ‘brand’
“These benefits certainly have ‘internal worth’ for the business, but can also have positive collateral effects in the marketplace.
“However, the simplest benefit, in my opinion, is the increased speed with which displaced employees find new roles when supported through career transitioning, compared with those who are not.”
