Job coaches could visit mental health patients in hospital, minister suggests

Job coaches could visit mental health patients when they are in hospital to help them get back to work, a minister has suggested.

Liz Kendall, Work and Pensions Secretary, told the BBC that there had been “dramatic results” from trials of employment advisers giving CV and interview advice in hospitals.

Kendall spoke about projects in hospitals in Leicester and South-East London, where such employment support has been offered to people with serious mental health conditions, including on hospital wards.

"The results of getting people into work have been dramatic, and the evidence clearly shows that it is better for their mental health," the minister said.
