'It got dodgy fast' | Firm stunned as remote employee is unmasked as North Korean hacker

A cybersecurity firm was stunned to discover that a recently-hired remote worker was, in fact, a hacker from North Korea. 

The revelation came from security awareness company KnowBe4, which detailed the sophisticated scheme that allowed the hacker to infiltrate their team.

The breach began when KnowBe4 posted a job advert and received an impressive CV from the candidate. After a series of video interviews and thorough background checks, the individual was hired as a principal software engineer. The new hire seemed to fit the bill perfectly, even providing references that checked out.
