What happens when you give neurodivergent employees consistent, practical support at work? We now have an answer - and it's backed by one of the most rigorous independent evaluations of neurodivergent workplace support ever conducted in the UK.
Nearly 300 employed autistic and ADHD people. Six months of data. Independently evaluated by the Behavioural Insights Team, commissioned by NHS England through the SBRI Healthcare Programme.
Here's what the research found:
Half of participants meaningfully improved their wellbeing
67% reported moderate to large reductions in stress
51% saw meaningful improvements in work performance
71% of those with health-related absence at the start reduced it - 60% cut it out altogether
45% of those at high risk of leaving their role were no longer high risk at six months
Estimated cost savings of £2,400–£9,800 per employee per year
The employees who benefited most were those with the higher absence levels, lowest wellbeing and productivity, and most likely to leave – the business case and the human case point in same direction.
