Now is a new era in the world of recruitment and retention. The world has fundamentally changed over the past 2 years, altering the way we think, socialise and work. This makes 2022 a pivotal time for organisations everywhere to make some hard hitting decisions that will have far reaching implications on their success. Why? Because all these changes have caused a shift in the recruitment space, taking power away from the organisation, and putting it instead on the employee.
Many organisations are currently experiencing a talent void, due to a wave of employees leaving over the ‘Great Resignation’ and struggling to find skilled people to take their places. As many organisations are having this problem, it gives job seekers an opportunity to be selective, and demand more from their potential employer. The question is no longer ‘why should we hire you’ but ‘why should I work here?’
Gone are the days when big name, high grossing organisations could pick and choose from a sea of eager would-be employees. People now expect more, and it’s the organisations that invest in their people’s needs and all-round satisfaction, that will have their pick of top talent.
Ultimately investing in a great employee experience can set you apart from other employers, and will be the difference between success and failure when it comes to recruiting top talent.
Addressing burn out is a big step employees can take. 85% of people we asked in our recent survey said they believe burn out is a major issue right now, and 51% of employees said they would move to another organisation who would better help them deal with burn out.
It’s no wonder, with the line between work and home being blurred, and social lives still not feeling back to normal, many of us find it hard to switch off at the end of the day.
Because of this, organisations need to invest in better training for managers, to ensure they are equipped to spot, approach and support an employee who is struggling with burn out. Organisations can also look to invest in dedicated software to support and engage employees, giving people what they need to make sense of the organisation they are working for, and their place in it.
