Facebook employees admit they 'blacklisted' conservative news online

Facebook workers reveal that they routinely suppressed conservative news stories from their trending news section.

According to a former journalist who worked at Facebook, employees allegedly prevented stories about the right-wing CPAC gathering, Mitt Romney, Rand Paul, and other conservative based news from appearing in the section.

Dubbed internally by Facebook as ‘news curators,’ several employees told Gizmodo that they were told to put certain stories into the trending news section despite the stories lacking popularity, or were not even trending at all.

The ‘curators’ who worked as contractors, were also told to prevent any news about Facebook featuring in trending section – going against the company’s claims that the trending section includes “topics that have recently become popular on Facebook.”
