Netflix offers employees unlimited parental leave

Netflix has announced that all of its employees will receive unlimited maternity and paternity leave as part of a new scheme aimed to incentivise workers.

The film streaming service has specified that new parents can take as much paid leave as they want during the first year after their child’s birth or adoption. The perk is somewhat similar to a recent paternity program launched by Virgin, however this benefit extends to both parents.

Netlix has ruled that it is entirely up to the individual employee how many months they want to take off, how often they come into the office and whether or not they wish to continue in their role full-time or part-time.

Tawni Cranz, Chief Talent Office for Netflix outlined the company’s new landmark policy, saying: “At Netflix, we work hard to foster a “freedom and responsibility” culture that gives our employees context about our business and the freedom to make their own decisions along with the accompanying responsibility. With this in mind, today we’re introducing an unlimited leave policy for new moms and dads that allows them to take off as much time as they want during the first year after a child’s birth or adoption.
