Ellen Pao, CEO of Reddit, has apologised after the dismissal of the company’s Director of Talent led to calls for her resignation from users.
Victoria Taylor also headed up the website’s communications, with duties including the co-ordination of the site’s Ask Me Anything forum, one of the most popular areas of the website which has seen everyone from Barack Obama to David Attenborough answer questions from users.
Her dismissal saw more than 100 areas of the social site close down in protest, with moderators describing her removal as having “a rug ripped out from underneath us”.
A petition calling for Pao’s resignation has since gathered over 200,000 signatures.
