Toyota executive arrested for importing drugs

Julie Hamp, Toyota’s first female Managing Officer, has been arrested for violating Japan’s narcotic drugs control act.

According to a report from NHK, the 55-year old US citizen is suspected of importing 57 tablets of oxycodone.

Oxycodone is available as a painkiller in the USA, but due to its highly addictive properties, it is categorized as a narcotic substance in Japan.

Speaking to USA Today, Toyota said: “Toyota has been made aware of Miss Hamp's arrest but has no further facts in light of the ongoing investigation by authorities.
