Freelancers beat full-timers for happiness, pay and productivity

Full-time staff suffer with lower levels of happiness and compensation while freelancers are happier, feel more productive and earn more in comparison a new study suggests.

According to research, people who freelanced worked an average of just 38.2 hours per week and earned an average (median) income of £42,857 per year compared to the national average (median) wage of £27,200.

The study, carried out by University of Brighton’s Business School in conjunction with the University of Sussex, covered freelancers in the creative, digital and IT industries.
