New flexible working rights take effect

New laws take effect today giving all employees the right to ask for flexible working.

Until now the rights were restricted to parents and care givers however the new legislation allows any worker to make a statutory application.

Employees who have been with a company 26 weeks can write to their employer who must consider the request and make a decision within three months.
