Employee retention is the number one problem faced by HR departments today, according to a survey.
The 2015 SHRM/Globoforce Employee Recognition Survey found that staff turnover has topped the list of challenges, having been cited more than employee engagement and succession planning, as the main cause of concern for Human Resources.
Speaking exclusively to HR Grapevine, Charlie Keeling, Global Head of HR for law firm Clyde&Co, explains how a unwarranted turnover leads to avoidable expense: “Lack of retention can cause all sorts of issues, the biggest being a financial one.”
“In professional services firms where your fee earners are your only, or certainly your most important, asset, the empirical evidence suggest it costs twice as much to replace a leaver as it does to retain them.”
