Lack of consequences if the company lies about the role

Another one from Reddit user Astat1ne: “Lastly, is the imbalance of consequences for lying. If you lie in your application or during the interview and you're busted, the consequences are negative and extreme - termination in most cases. There have been a number of instances I've read about of people lying about qualifications when getting senior management roles and being sacked over it. However, if the company lies (about the nature of the role or their culture or whatever) there's very little negative consequences for them. You're forced to endure it for a nominal period of time before moving on.”

Hiring on charisma, not on skills

“The US and many western countries place heavy weight on personalities, and misguidedly think they need to hire the most charismatic candidates who exhibit traits of extroversion and enthusiasm, when as you said it rarely has any affect or ability to predict job performance. On the flip side, I've seen plenty of high-charm high charisma candidates who give great interviews but have bounced around numerous jobs and have very few actual accomplishments to speak of. It appears such candidates are good at getting hired but not at actually performing the job they've been hired for.”
