Fired for attempting to poison colleague with laxative brownies

It’s often tempting to dream of ways to get your own back on colleagues you don’t get along with. For most of us, however, this remains purely in the world of fantasy.

One American worker actually did act out her dream of revenge though, deciding to take one last chance to get one over on a departing colleague by baking laxatives into the co-worker's going-away brownies.

M Live, a local Michigan news outlet, reports that other employees at MMI Engineered Solutions were suspicious of the chocolate treats and confiscated them before calling the police. The 47-year old suspected poisoner initially told police there was nothing wrong with the brownies, but when told they would be sent to a lab for testing she broke down and admitted she’d added laxatives to the recipe.

"A lot of times you see it in movies or TV shows where someone tries to do this or play a joke, but it's very serious," said Saline Police Chief Jerrod Hart. "It's a criminal act."
