Workers at Acas, the workplace information, conciliation and advice repository, have held a strike in what union representatives have dubbed an “ironic” move.
Acas, which both employers and employees can turn to for advice about workplace disputes, saw workers who are members of the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union walk out in response to unmanageable workloads and other conditions.
The union argues that staff have also raised concerns about the “downgrading” of work in the conciliation service over the last year.
Mark Turner, a branch secretary at union GMB, added that the move was “extremely worrying”.
