UN sexual harassment Chief promoted whilst being investigated

Reporting has revealed that Chief of the United Nations was promoted to her position as whilst under separate investigation for harassment.

The UN special taskforce on sexual harassment looked into Jan Beagle’s, the incumbent Undersecretary General for Management at the NGO body, conduct whilst working as Deputy Executive Director of UNAids.

Whilst an internal investigation found the allegations to be unsubstantiated, the claimant asked for the Board to reopened the inquiry using an external independent body.

Though subject to an investigation at the time, Beagle was promoted in June by António Guterres, the UN secretary general, leaving UNAids to become undersecretary general for management across the UN.
