#MondayMisery: Should you encourage staff to moan about work?

As Monday welcomes us with a rainy, windy and cold slap in the face, HR Grapevine are taking a conflicting stance against those sickly motivational posts that guilt us into bounding into the day with false positivity. 

In fact, we want you to embrace your negative emotions about work today and have a good old moan with a colleague as, according to new research, it’s good for you.

Researcher Dr Vanessa Pouthier of University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Business and Economics, examined how medical staff used both humour and moaning in their daily meetings, concluding that airing your workplace gripes can actually improve the mood in the workplace. 

The research, published on the University of Melbourne's website, studied a medical team based in an oncology and end-of-life department in a US hospital.
