UK starting salaries amongst lowest in Europe

Starting your first job should be an exciting moment – but for many people in Britain, their first regular salary might leave them feeling left behind.

A new report by Willis Towers Watson (WTW) has found that the typical entry level professional in the UK earns £26,000 – making them amongst the lowest-paid starters in Europe.

This is just over a third of the £68,959 that employees in top-ranked Switzerland can expect and slightly more than half the £45,194 young professionals in second-placed Denmark can expect to earn.

Poland has the lowest starting salaries in Europe, where young professionals can expect to earn just £11,628.
