Anne Frank museum in HR dress code fallout

The museum dedicated to world-famous Jewish writer and Holocaust victim Anne Frank is embroiled in a HR fiasco after banning a Jewish employee from wearing a skullcap at work.

The employee turned up to his first day of work at Anne Frank House, situated in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and was told to take off his yarmulke. A yarmulke is a skullcap warn in public by Orthodox Jewish men, and can also be known as a kippah.

The Daily Mail reports that the 25-year-old new-starter was told wearing the skullcap might endanger the neutrality of the foundation which runs the museum and “influence its work combating antisemitism”.

Whilst the employee did not wear his skullcap at interview, he hoped he would be able to at work. As an Orthodox Jew it is a requirement he keeps his head covered.
