Coronation St star's naked ordeal highlights workplace sexism

 Coronation Street actor Nicola Thorp has revealed that she was once asked to get naked during an audition for a part in a coffee machine commercial.

Speaking on Radio Five Live, Thorp - who plays Nicola Rubinstein on the ITV show – revealed that she was humiliated and made to feel vulnerable as a result of the Director’s demands.

She said: “I was once called into an audition and asked to take my clothes off apart from my underwear. I was asked to blow up a balloon until it burst in my face.

“At the time I remember questioning it and thinking why do you need me to do this? It was for a coffee machine commercial.”
