We know sleep is important – from concentration to productivity, the impact of a solid eight hours compared with six or fewer is evident. But did you know the average amount of sleep you get a night heavily varies depending on your job?
In a survey from Hillarys, 4,596 Britons were asked whether they thought they got enough sleep each night. Only 11% said they thought they did, with the remaining 89% stating they get less sleep than they need.
Respondents said that stress (44%) and a high caffeine consumption (19%) were the most common factors keeping them up at night.
Professor Jim Horne previously told Grapevine about the dangers of a lack of sleep. “Most work situations require individuals to make critical decisions, remain focussed and complete tasks within a timely and efficient manner,” he said. “The longer a person is awake, the more likely their mood is to be negatively affected, as well as their willingness to take risks in the workplace. This could be cause for concern.”
