TV Presenter Piers Morgan has admitted that getting up early to front Good Morning Britain was “slowly killing” him which led to his resignation in the summer.
Speaking to Radio Times, the outspoken media figure said that he had then reached a new agreement with his bosses to start at 5.30am - rather than 4am when his female colleagues begin.
Morgan explained: “The only reason, really, I had to go in so early was because the female stars all have to. It takes them longer [to get ready] because they get more attention and pressure on how they look, how their hair is and everything else.”
Morgan had previously complained that getting up so early had turned him into a “complete zombie” with the Mirror quoting him as saying “It’s killing me before my very eyes. It’s the least healthy existence imaginable.”
