Barclays reveals shocking gender pay gap

Barclays has revealed a shocking pay gap of up to 43.5%, according to figures submitted to Government.

The bank fares worse than other financial and insurance companies that have submitted their figures, where the median pay gap stands at 14.8%.

The 43.5% average gender pay gap is from the investment bank division, Barclays International. For its UK retail bank, women earn 14.2% less than men on average, while the figure is 29.9% for the holding company, Barclays Services.

Pay quartile figures reveal women account for 73% of the firm’s lowest-paid employees, and women's bonus pay was 46.9% lower than that for men on the median measure.
