Top male BBC presenters have agreed to take a pay cut following gender pay gap revelations at the corporation.
Huw Edwards of BBC News, Radio 2 star Jeremy Vine, Today programme’s John Humphries and BBC Radio 5 live presenter Nicky Campbell have all agreed to have their pay slashed, according to the BBC's Media Editor Amol Rajan.
It follows former BBC China Editor Carrie Gracie's resignation from her post in protest at unequal pay between male and female international editors. She is due to appear before MPs next week to discuss what action the corporation is taking to address the gender pay gap. According to the BBC, Gracie will be returning to a BBC newsroom in London shortly, saying she expects to be “paid equally”.
The corporation said: "We've already set out a range of action we're taking on fair pay, and we'll have more to say on the issue next week."
