Uber said that its UK drivers will have to take a six-hour break after accepting and making trips with passengers totalling 10 hours yesterday.
The decision comes after the firm received unilateral criticism for their ‘burnout’ culture and the excessive working hours some of their drivers take on.
Both trade unions and the Government have slammed the ride-hail app for it’s employment structures and the length of time some of the drivers worked for.
Uber said that nearly a third of its 50,000 drivers log on to the app for more than 40 hours a week, and 8% are online for more than 60 hours.
