Whilst London is often hailed as the UK’s business centre, holding up the economy with its outstanding performance, (according to a report by the Centre for Cities, if all UK cities were as productive as the capital and the South East, Britain would be £200billion richer) several British cities are storming ahead when it comes to work.
According to a report by Bidwells, which ranked UK cities according to the number of available jobs, job satisfaction, average base salary, average home value and top jobs, a few unexpected names reached the ranking.
In fact, if you’re considering a ‘new year new me’ shake-up, Slough is one the best cities for both living and working. The town, which first received prominence thanks to David Brent, was also named as the best town in the country for jobs in a separate piece of research by Glassdoor.
Other towns which have seen the benefit from a business boom include Milton Keynes, Oxford and Cambridge. The so-called ‘golden triangle’ cities, were also rated highly on their digital entrepreneurial spirit, according to the Europe European Digital City Index, with Cambridge ranking first for its market, and Oxford taking the top spot for skills.
