There are multiple distractions which can impact our concentration at this time of year – the main one being the heavy snowfall which has disrupted many commuters’ Monday. Therefore, you may want to hold off on playing the Christmas classics if you want staff to knuckle down.
New research has found that over half of UK workers (61%) admit to being distracted at work by Christmas as early as November, with 21% saying they’re too excited by the festivities to concentrate.
The study, by HR analytics company Peakon, found that two in five British workers (42%) admit to shopping online, whilst a third (35%) say they’re planning Christmas day on the job.
Not only that, but one in six (16%) confessed to sipping a tipple on the job during the period - with men twice as likely to take advantage of a festive drink than women (22% and 11%, respectively).
