Is the office Christmas party dying?

A lot of workers have been there. Bleary-eyes, a pounding headache and the slowly creeping realisation that, last night, you may have done something entirely regrettable at the office Christmas party.

However, it appears that this scenario might soon be on the way out with the Associated Press reporting that slightly fewer organisations are hosting Christmas parties – and those that are plan to serve less booze.

Although 80% of firms are planning to have a seasonal holiday of some sort, 11% will not host a holiday party. This is a steep rise from four per cen  the year before.

And, this year, only 49% of firms plan to serve alcohol, down from nearly 62% in 2016. For those who like filling their boots on company cash, this is a massive kick in the teeth.
