Most workplaces will have one or two employees who may be described as a little bit odd, but how can HR departments discern between a difficult individual and an actual psychopath?
Whilst the rate of psychopathy in the general population is approximately one in every one hundred (one per cent), a new study has found that one in five CEOs are psychopaths, equating to roughly the same amount amongst prisoners.
The study of 261 US Senior Professionals in the supply chain management industry found that 21% had clinically significant levels of psychopathic traits.
Whilst only a professional can diagnose psychopathy, for the wellbeing and safety of an organisation, it’s important for HR to identify the signs which could be telling of an employee’s fate.
