Why this tech CEO asks: 'How do you feel about your parents?'

Technology firms, whilst not previously synonymous with fashion, have pioneered a series of revolutionary trends. And not just the algorithmic, AI and sci-fi-esque creations of Elon Musk, Steve Jobs and Satya Nadella, but, Silicon Valley firms are also making their mark within the hiring space with quirky curveballs and unconventional techniques.

One trendsetting tech mogul, Bob Brennan, an Executive Director at the software firm CA Technologies, has revealed his go-to interview question, which may or may not surprise you.  

In an interview with New York Times writer Adam Bryant, the former CEO of Iron Mountain, Brennan, was asked if he could choose one interview question to ask, what would it be, to which he answered: "What are the qualities you like least and most in your parents?"

Whilst it’s unlikely that any interviewer would feel comfortable bringing up family during hiring, there is a logic to his curveball.
