A bank employee has alleged that she endured 15 years in a hostile work environment suffering harassment as a result of her sexuality.
Proceeding with claims in court, Penelope Hudson alleges that at one point she was “told to change her appearance as she was ‘too butch’ to deal with customers.”
Other allegations include being the centre of colleague gossip, due to her perceived sexual orientation, and being passed over for promotion due to her “supervisor's animus towards lesbians.”
Hudson, who lives in the state of Kentucky, USA, where 76% of adults identify as Christian, believes that her religiosity was questioned by another supervisor, who is accused of saying, on several occasions, that Hudson couldn’t believe in God because she is gay.
