I hate my job, but is it worth quitting?

There are countless stories of employees who hate their job. The work has no meaning, bosses are unduly stringent or the job just wasn’t what was advertised during the recruitment process.

However, storming out and quitting isn’t always the best bet. Rather, it might be best to hunt for a new role on the side and start thinking about what you actually want to do.

This is what Liz Ryan, resident HR expert at Forbes, advises when asked by an employee who was stumped by whether they should quit, or not, when faced with an increasingly impossible job.

They wrote to Liz saying: “I work my tail off and I haven't made any mistakes but he's [my boss] looking for any little thing he can use as ammunition to get me on a performance improvement plan and fire me ‘for cause.’
