BONANZA: 10 jobs with the biggest bonuses

Love them or hate them, bonuses have been around for decades. Intended as a way to reward high-performing employees, the stigma around executive bonuses have led some employees to call for change.

However, when they’re used in the right way, bonuses can be used to promote and encourage exceptional work. The Telegraph reports that the Office for National Statistics (ONS) found the average bonus given to employees from 2016-17 was £1,600. However, there are certain roles which offer a more substantial bonus than others.

Research from Glassdoor revealed the top ten jobs which offer the best bonuses, as well as which jobs have fallen off the list compared to last year. A number of financial-based roles missed out on bonuses this year, despite being in the top ten last year. These jobs included investment banking analyst and trader, each of which earned average bonuses of around £20,000.

“The earning potential of a high-performing UK sales employee is undeniable and we are now seeing sales roles beating finance positions in terms of offering the biggest bonuses,” explained David Whitby of Glassdoor.
