'P***' & 'Suicide Bomber': Worker reveals horrific abuse

In the workplace, employees should be able to expect that the only stress they’ll face comes down to their workload, deadlines and managing multiple responsibilities - not from being racially abused.

Yet, a new report in the Evening Standard found that one railway worker fell victim to racist abuse seven times in seven months – including being branded a “p***” and a “suicide bomber”.

The station assistant at Merseyside, in Liverpool, described various incidents. One involved telling a man that his father was too drunk to travel. This resulted in a slew of racist insults. In a video released by British Transport Police, the man, named Sukhi, admits he sometimes “feels like rubbing the colour off his skin”.

He claims: “If I was white this wouldn’t be happening to me.”
