Banana Republic manager fired after calling employee's hair too 'urban'

A manager at a popular fashion retail store has been fired after pillorying an employee for her style of hair – Cosmopolitan reports.

The manager, who worked at Banana Republic, allegedly chastised a black female staff member for her “urban” and “unkempt” hair.

    I agree with Chris S. There had to be more. inappropriate comment agreed but a bit dramatic with drastic results. A cultural diversity training or awareness and perhaps a suspension but fired? wow
    Also the women's comment was not discriminatory? I agree she played the race card.....and won.

    There must be more to this surely? I'm not sure which is more odd: for someone to query braids in a casual retail environment or for the employee to play the race card to the max and assert "I have never been so humiliated and degraded in my life by a white person". And was dismissal really a proportionate response?
