Is HR doing enough to help disabled people into work?

A sobering report has revealed that disabled people need to apply for 60% more jobs than non-disabled jobseekers before they find work.

The survey by Opinium, commissioned by disability charity, Scope and Virgin Media, found that when applying for jobs, 69% of non-disabled applicants received job interviews, compared to 51% of disabled candidates – The Independent reports.

The research has prompted warnings that disabled people are being “shut out of the jobs market.”

Recent Government figures show that there are one million disabled people in the UK who are currently unemployed, but want to and are able, to work.
