Standing at work is as bad for you as smoking

Trends are just as common in the workplace as they are in the fashion world. They roll in on the whim of some well-meaning guru and everyone gets immediately swept up in the hype of it all; thought circles, manifestation boards and orienteering weekends were all popular at one point, but have since lost some of their appeal.

So, it should come as no surprise that standing at work all day has also proven to be something of a fad. Despite the protestations that sitting at our desks all day was killing us slowly, a recent report has suggested that prolonged periods of standing at work is as bad for our health as smoking one cigarette a day.
