'Culture of fear' is holding employees back at work

New research has found that worrying levels of employees are concerned that their age, gender and appearance are holding them back at work.

The workplace survey, undertaken by wellbeing charity CABA, found that one in five London-based workers feel that they are not taken seriously because of their gender.

Unsurprisingly, considering evidence of under-representation of women in boardrooms and the gender pay gap, women are notably more anxious of not being taken seriously due to their sex. Almost one in five women worry that their gender holds them back

Compounding these figures, one in four Londoners feel that are not taken seriously because of their age and even higher numbers worry that they’re not taken seriously because of how they look.
