Whilst most staff are honest and hard-working, fake vegetable seeds and rat nests are just a couple of the secrets that employers are forcing their staff to keep from customers.
However, this won't create a positive company culture. Della Wolfe, Co-owner of The Curve Group, spoke exclusively to HR Grapevine about the need to create a positive workplace ethos that highlights the need for staff to be honest.
She said: “Honesty and openness are the ones that avoid future conflict. A good example of this are facilitation of independent and transparent investigations in identifying and resolving cultural issues early on."
However, a recent askreddit thread revealed that some staff are being asked to cover up workplace indiscretions. These include: hiding rodents that have taken up residence in Christmas trees and hiding fires from customers who aren’t in the know.
