If your company is always on ‘fire drill-level’ alert, eventually your employees will get sloppy: their brains will be drained, they will care less about their colleagues and forget the bigger picture.

In fact, too much focus, rather than being a good thing, can actually hamper the productivity of staff at your firm.

Recently, HR Grapevine reported on details of Uber’s burnout culture, in which employees were expected to be on-call throughout the night.

Some employees felt the firm’s CTO, Thuan Pham, publicly shamed those employees who had made ‘mistakes’ during late-night work, despite those mistakes coming during toil undertaken after official work hours.
