Workplace meetings are causing employee anxiety

Workplace meetings are often a situation that no one, apart from the boss, seems to enjoy.

However, the daily stress of meetings is causing just under half (48%) of British employees to feel anxious, driving them to the pub both during and after the working day.

The research, by Direct Blinds, found that fears of being sacked, as well as the prospect of being humiliated in front of colleagues, or outdone by their peers, were just some of the reasons cited for this pressure.

In anonymous feedback to the survey, UK workers admitted that they favour the traditional means to escape daunting meetings, via the ‘sickie’. Others turned to the bottle to calm their nerves, with a number of employees saying that their stress was so intense that they swapped their morning coffee for an alcoholic drink.
