Over a third of UK workers believe that their workplace has some of the most ridiculous rules that subsequently impact on the relationship of trust between an employee and their employer.
The figures, from a recent CV-Library survey, also showed that a fifth of UK workers feel that their employer doesn’t have faith in them as staff as a result of workplace limitations.
Lee Biggins, Founder and Managing Director of CV-Library, commented that although workplace rules are necessary, ridiculous ones can actually harm productivity and diminish staff morale.
He said: “Every workplace needs rules: otherwise you’d simply never get things done. That said, it’s clear that many of the rules highlighted in our research are just ridiculous. Employees want to feel trusted and while one workplace can differ massively to another, you have to treat your staff like adults – especially when it comes to being allowed to drink water and going to the toilet!”
