Older workers tend to be unhappier in their jobs than younger colleagues, according to a survey by Robert Half.
Apparently, one in six British workers over 35 are unhappy – more than double the number for those under 35. Furthermore, a third of people over 55 said they didn’t feel appreciated.
Whilst higher stress is often associated with those who have climbed to a higher position on the career ladder – or disappointment for those that have not progressed far enough – it is those in the middle of their careers that seem to bear the brunt of workplace unhappiness.
Professor Cary Cooper, President of the CIPD, explained that these workplace stresses can make staff reconsider whether what they’re doing is worthwhile.
