Racial pay gap: Black workers paid less than white workers

Although two workers might have the same qualifications, it is likely that if that worker is white they will be paid more than a black counterpart – The Independent reports.

If both workers have A-Levels, it is likely that a black employee will earn ten per cent less. If both workers have degrees, it is likely that they will face a 14% pay gap – the equivalent of £2.63-per-hour.

For workers with higher education certificates and diplomas, the racial pay gap rises to about 20%.

On average, the Trades Union Congress (TUC) found that the pay gap for black employees was circa eight per cent less than white workers.
