2. Embrace diversity in your workplace culture

A report by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), found that, contrary to popular belief that motherhood is a detriment to female’s career ambitions, it’s actually corporate culture that fails to embrace diversity.

They found that at organisations where employees feel gender diversity is improving, there was almost no gap in ambitions between the genders, with 85% of women seeking promotion, compared with 87% of men.

“The good news is that addressing this ‘ambition gap’ is entirely within an organisation’s control,” said Katie Abouzahr, a Health Care Principal at BCG and co-author of the report. “By creating the right culture, companies can foster women’s ambition and tap into the wider pool of talent needed to win in the future.”
