Nissan's “nastiest” campaign against workers, unions & Bernie Sanders

Nissan, the Japanese multinational car manufacturer, has been accused of running one of the “nastiest” campaigns in US Labour movement history in efforts to stop workers unionising – Guardian reports.

The car-maker’s campaign is in opposition to US-based Unite Auto Workers (UAW) union who are planning a vote at the end of the week in attempts to represent one US Nissan plant’s workers.

The union, amongst others, are seeking to build membership in Southern US states where they feel manufacturers are taking advantage of lower wages and non-unionised workforces.

Nissan’s anti-union campaign – in efforts to sway workers at a plant in Mississippi, has included buying anti-union advertisements on local TV. They are also rumoured to be bribing and threatening workers to vote against unionisation.
