REVEALED: Uber's burnout culture & 5 signs your firm's making the same mistakes

As if Uber’s problems could get any bigger – and any more public. However, mere hours ago BuzzFeed released an in-depth report on the company’s culture, revealing details about work conditions at the firm.

The report details a near-constant on-call approach to work, employees who were rewarded for their ‘hard partying’ and a management team who fostered feelings of fear and anxiety.

One example, from May 2015, details the company-wide humiliation one engineer received after not responding to system alerts during an on-call work period.

Whilst engineers have told Buzzfeed said that the unpaid on-call system was akin to working extra shifts for free, CTO Thuan Pham sent an email to all staff detailing an engineer’s failings.
